Washington University surgical oncologists treat sarcomas, rare malignant tumors that may develop anywhere in the body including bones, muscles and joints.
All sarcoma patients are evaluated and treated with a multidisciplinary approach that includes surgical oncologists, orthopedic oncologists, radiologists and pathologists. Treatment may involve radiation therapies and medical oncology. Each case is discussed at a weekly, multidisciplinary conference that is attended by surgeons, radiation oncologists, medical oncologists, pathologists, radiologists and nurses.
